Sempre is one of the most iconic and oldest venues on Peristeri’s pedestrian street – now busy and full of cafe bars. With the expansion and renovation it entrusted in 2010 to Mv-Design Studio and Interior Designer Manos Vamvakousis, it gave Aimiliou Veaki street a cosmopolitan air and set the tone for the cafés that began to open one after another, until it became the entertainment hub we know today.

The challenges were many and varied. The plan was to increase the space from 70 m² to 145 m². The original, smaller Sempre had made a great impression when it first opened. Although small, it had been designed with taste and was very elegant. Extremely detailed organisation of the works was needed so that the old part could keep operating normally while the new one was being built. The bet paid off, and it only had to close for one week for the two spaces to be joined.

Designer Manos Vamvakousis, a Peristeri local and himself a regular at the old Sempre, wanted to show respect for the existing space, which had been operating successfully since 2007. So he connected the new with the old in such a way that the sociable character Sempre exuded was not altered, while giving the space fresh energy and the momentum that would mark a new beginning for Sempre and for the area in general. The undertaking was difficult, but time proved that difficulties are there to be overcome. When a creative team with knowledge of and passion for its craft takes action, the result can only be successful.
